Agreement on Reforms in the Common Agricultural Policy

18/5/1992

The Council of Ministers responsible for Agriculture, following negotiations held in Brussels from May 18 to 21, agreed on the framework for reforms of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). A few days later, on June 30, 1992, after intense discussions, the Council issued regulations for the reform of the CAP. Although the basic principles of the CAP were maintained (single pricing, community preference, and financial solidarity), corrective measures were established to limit production and budgetary expenditures.
