Announcement of the Commission on the Accession of Great Britain

The Commission of the European Economic Community (EEC) expresses its satisfaction regarding the statement of British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan on his country’s accession to the EEC, considering it also as another recognition of the work of European integration that has begun since 1950. Finally, the Commission declares its willingness to work towards overcoming all difficulties during the accession negotiations.
