Appointment of Laura Codruța KöVesi as the 1st European Chief Prosecutor

On September 25, 2019, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union agree to appoint Laura Codruța Kövesi as the first European Chief Prosecutor. The European Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will be based in Luxembourg, will have the authority to investigate and prosecute crimes against the EU budget, such as fraud, corruption, or serious cross-border VAT fraud.
