Approval of the Barroso Commission by the European Parliament

On 18 November 2004, the European Parliament decides with 449 votes in favor, 149 against, and 82 abstentions to approve the Barroso Commission, whose term begins on 22 November 2004 and ends on 31 October 2009. On 16 September 2009, Jose Manuel Barroso is re-approved by the European Parliament as President of the European Commission. Thus, the second Barroso Commission took office for the 2009-2014 period.
