On September 1, 2018, Johannes Hahn, member of the European Commission responsible for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, traveled to Novi Sad, Serbia to participate in the inauguration of the Žeželj Bridge together with Aleksandar Vučić, President of Serbia. The bridge is a critical link in the Trans-European network that will allow for improved navigation along the Danube, the restoration of road and rail traffic, and will add new momentum to regional cooperation. The support for this project demonstrates the European Union’s commitment to the Connectivity Agenda, which aims to develop transport, energy, and digital connections within the Western Balkans and with the EU.
During this visit, Johannes Hahn also traveled to Belgrade, where he met with Ana Brnabić, Prime Minister of Serbia.
