Charles Michel Becomes President of the European Council

Charles Michel replaces Mr. Donald Tusk as President of the European Council. His term is from 1 December 2019 to 31 May 2022. On 24 March 2022, EU leaders re-elected Charles Michel as President of the European Council for a second term of two and a half years, from 1 June 2022 to 30 November 2024. He had served as Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium from 2014 to 2019.
