Conclusions of the Spanish Presidency

On 26 and 27 June, during the European Council in Madrid, the Spanish Presidency presented the conclusions of its (first) six-month term in this position, which mainly concerned the Single European Act, the internal market, the European elections, and the European Political Cooperation. Additionally, at the European Council, it was decided that the Community would proceed with the first of the three stages of implementing the economic and monetary union, which would begin on 1 July 1990.
