Confidential Letter from Hubert Ansiaux to Pierre Werner with Report on Monetary Policy between Member States

The confidential letter from the Belgian President of the Committee of Governors of the Central Banks of EEC member states, Baron Hubert Ansiaux, to Pierre Werner, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Luxembourg, was to be considered particularly important in the effort to establish a European economic and monetary union, as it formed an integral part of the Werner Group Report, which was tasked with this study. This letter contained a report from the central bank experts for the Committee of Governors regarding monetary policy and specifically on the feasibility of harmonizing its instruments as well as effectively strengthening relations between member states.
