Council Decision on the Appointment of the New European Commission

Taking into account the approval of the European Parliament, following a relevant vote held on 18 November 2004, the Council issues a Decision through which it appoints the President and members of the new European Commission. The term of the Commission under the Presidency of Jose Manuel Barroso begins on 22 November 2004 and ends on 31 October 2009. The Barroso Commission also took office for the 2010-2014 period.
