Council Regulation on Economic Assistance for the Republic of Hungary and the People’s Republic of Poland

18/12/1989

The Community implements an economic assistance action for the Republic of Hungary and the People’s Republic of Poland. The assistance is used, as a priority, to support reforms in Poland and Hungary, particularly by financing or co-financing projects aimed at economic restructuring. These projects or cooperation actions should be carried out mainly in the fields of agriculture, industry, investments, energy, education, environmental protection as well as trade and services; specifically, they should benefit the private sector in Hungary and Poland. The assistance is granted by the Community, either independently or in co-financing with Member States, the European Investment Bank, third countries or multilateral organizations or even with the beneficiary countries themselves.
