Election of Mario Draghi as President of the European Central Bank (ECB)

On November 1, 2011, Mario Draghi, former Governor of the Bank of Italy, assumed the role of President of the European Central Bank (ECB). He served in this position until October 31, 2019. Mario Draghi succeeded Jean-Claude Trichet, who had been President of the ECB since 2003.
