End of Single-Use Plastics

3/7/2021

Single-use plastics such as plates, cutlery, straws, cotton buds—all these items and many more—are no longer allowed in the EU market, thanks to the Single-Use Plastics Directive.
The measure also applies to cups, food and beverage containers made of expanded polystyrene and oxo-degradable plastic.
These single-use items usually end up scattered in nature and on beaches and are very harmful to the environment. Did you know that over 80% of marine litter is plastic? This new EU legislation will make it possible to reduce ocean waste disposal by 50%, while also preventing CO2 emissions by 3.4 million tonnes annually!
