EU Court Decision on the “Approximation of Laws” for the Use of Vehicles

On September 4, 2014, Marko Ilešič, Judge at the EU Court of Justice, issued his decision in the Vnuk Case (C-162/13) concerning the Approximation of Laws. The Court clarified the scope of protection for victims of accidents caused by vehicles. The compulsory insurance against civil liability in relation to the use of vehicles must cover any accident caused during the use of a vehicle that is consistent with the normal function of that vehicle.
