EU Emergency Aid to Pakistan

In response to the escalation of the humanitarian crisis, Kristalina Georgieva, Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, announced that the Commission will mobilize an additional 30 million euros for emergency aid to Pakistan due to floods. This latest funding will increase the total humanitarian aid funds allocated by the Commission to assist those affected by the floods to 70 million. euros. On August 23, 2010, Kristalina Georgieva traveled to the affected area of Pakistan and met with authorities and aid experts, as well as people affected by the floods.
