European Council in Brussels, 23-24/06/2011

José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, and the Heads of State and Government of the EU met in Brussels for the European Council hosted by Herman van Rompuy, President of the European Council. Five key topics were discussed: review of the economic situation in Europe, especially in Greece, migration, the Southern Neighborhood, taxation in the financial sector, and the administrative burden for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). The European Council concluded with a joint press conference with Jadranka Kosor, Prime Minister of Croatia, regarding Croatia’s accession to the EU on 01/07/2013.
