The European Council of Amsterdam concluded the Intergovernmental Conference by reaching consensus on a draft treaty. The Council also approved various arrangements facilitating the smooth transition to the third phase of Economic and Monetary Union. Additionally, alongside a joint Resolution of the Member States, the European Commission (EC) and the Council, regarding the implementation of the Stability and Growth Pact, the Council adopted a Resolution on growth and employment, committing to make it a top priority, and the Council scheduled an Extraordinary European Council meeting in the autumn dedicated to this issue.
