European Council of Rome, 27-28 October

During the special session of the European Council in Rome, preparations were completed for the two Intergovernmental Conferences, one on Economic and Monetary Union and the other on aspects of political union.
These two Conferences were scheduled for December of the same year. This European Council took place during the period of German reunification, which gave significant impetus to the process of European integration.
