European Parliament Resolution on Spain and Portugal as Candidate Countries

With this Resolution, the European Parliament gives its opinion regarding the Council’s decision on the enlargement of the Community and welcomes the completion of accession negotiations with Spain and Portugal. Furthermore, it approves the institutional agreements with the candidate countries; however, it excludes from the agreement cases concerning the Community’s organs and institutions. Finally, it reserves the right to adopt a Resolution regarding the ratification of the Accession Treaties after the signing of the treaties.
