Bernard Kouchner, French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, chaired an meeting of the Council of General Affairs and External Relations in Brussels on the situation in Georgia. The Minister briefed his European counterparts on his visits to Tbilisi and Moscow with Alexander Stubb, Finnish Foreign Minister and acting President of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, as well as on the meetings of Nicolas Sarkozy, President of the French Republic and acting President of the EU Council, with his Russian and Georgian counterparts. The EU Ministers analyzed the situation, including the humanitarian aspect, and examined the actions to be taken to promote a rapid resolution of the conflict.
