Extraordinary European Council Meeting in Response to the Terrorist Attacks of September 11th

In response to the terrorist attacks of September 11th, the European Council convenes in an extraordinary session. Among other actions, it approves an action plan to combat terrorism, which includes strengthening police and judicial cooperation, developing international legal instruments, terminating terrorist financing, and enhancing air transport security. Additionally, the European Council assigned the General Affairs Council the task of coordinating the EU’s overall action regarding the fight against terrorism.
