Facilitation Document for Free Land Movement within the EU

The Council issues a Regulation (effective April 18, 2003) concerning the Facilitation of Transit Document (FTD) and the Facilitation of Rail Transit Document (FRTD). These are special permits issued by EU member states to facilitate land transit for nationals of third countries who must necessarily pass through the territory of one or more member states in order to travel between two areas of their country that do not share common geographical borders.
