Federica Mogherini

Italian politician Federica Mogherini is appointed as the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. She is also Vice-President of the European Commission. Her role is to strengthen the EU’s voice on the international stage.
The former Italian Foreign Minister was appointed to this position on August 30, 2014, by the European Council for a five-year term, taking over from Catherine Ashton who had been appointed to this position in 2009.
