First Conference on the Creation of a European Army

15/2/1951

The inaugural conference is held in Paris by the representatives of the six founding member states, focusing on the creation of a European army. This essentially led to the treaty for the establishment of the European Defence Community (EDC) in 1952. However, it was the French National Assembly that rejected the plan, and the treaty was not ratified.
