First EU-Turkey High-Level Dialogue with Focus on Science, Research, Technology

The Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Ms. Mariya Gabriel, and the Minister of Industry and Technology of Turkey, Mr. Mustafa Varank, met in Brussels as part of the first EU-Turkey high-level dialogue on science, research, technology and innovation. The dialogue focused on aspects of the Green Deal, such as green industrial production, renewable energy sources, and climate-neutral and smart cities. Emphasis was also placed on the contribution of education and training in promoting innovation and technology transfer.
Since 2003, Turkey has been a key partner in EU research and innovation programs. It is also associated with various EU programs for the period 2021-2027: with the “Horizon Europe” program, Erasmus+, and the European Solidarity Corps.
Both sides confirmed their intention to strengthen their close cooperation in these areas for mutual benefits arising from the green and digital transition.
