First Presentation of the Unified Commission to the European Parliament

The President of the Commission of the European Communities, Jean Rey, along with the members of his Commission, participates in the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. This is the first presentation of the unified Commission following the Merger Treaty, which was signed on April 8, 1965, and came into effect on July 1, 1967. On this occasion, Jean Rey, in his speech, among other things, refers to the work, responsibilities, and duties of the new Commission as the now unified administrative body of the three European Communities (ECSC, EEC, and Euratom).
