Helping Greece Tackle the Largest Wildfires of the Century in Europe

Greece activated the EU Civil Protection Mechanism for the second time in the same summer, as new fires broke out in northeastern Greece. This fire is the largest in the EU since 2000, when data recording began by the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS). In response, the EU launched its largest rescEU aerial firefighting operation to date.
