Informal Meeting on Western Balkans, Ukraine and Moldova in Athens

On August 21 and 22, 2023, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Charles Michel, President of the European Council, traveled to Athens, Greece, to participate in an informal dinner hosted by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Greek Prime Minister, with the leaders of the Western Balkans, Moldova, Ukraine and the EU, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the EU-Western Balkans Summit and the Thessaloniki Declaration. On this occasion, the leaders discussed issues related to the bloc’s enlargement and the European future of the region. Ursula von der Leyen held a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the event.
