Initial “No” from the European Parliament on Swift Bank Transactions to the USA

The Parliament exercises its newly acquired power to approve or reject international agreements and says no to the agreement for transferring EU bank transaction data via the SWIFT payment network to the USA, citing privacy protection reasons. Subsequently, the EU-USA agreement is revised and receives Parliament’s approval.
