Ireland on the Path to the EEC

10/5/1967

The Prime Minister of Ireland, John Lynch, drafts letters in which the country requests anew the initiation of accession negotiations for their entry into the European Economic Community (EEC) and the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC). Additionally, he submitted a membership application to the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC or Euratom). Previously, on July 31, 1961, Ireland had sent a similar request to the EEC and on January 7, 1963 to the ECSC.
