Javier Solana Begins His Second Term

Javier Solana begins his second five-year term as Secretary General of the Council of the European Union/High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy. He was reappointed to this position by a Council Decision on 29 June 2004. This second term lasted until 30 November 2009. He was first appointed by a Council Decision on 13 September 1999 and took office on 18 October 1999.
