Last Day of Jean Monnet’s Tenure as President of the High Authority

While in Luxembourg, Jean Monnet delivers a farewell speech on the last day of his tenure as President of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC). From the next day, René Mayer will assume this position as decided by the Messina Conference (June 1-3), where the Foreign Ministers of the Six convened.
