Launch of Galileo Satellites 5 and 6

Galileo, the EU’s satellite navigation program, has sent two more satellites into space, bringing the total number of satellites in orbit to 6. The launch took place at the European spaceport near Kourou in French Guiana. The launch marked another milestone for Galileo as a step towards the full deployment of a European satellite navigation system. These two satellites are the first of a new series that belongs entirely to the EU.
