Merger Treaty

The Merger Treaty comes into force, creating a single Council of Ministers and a single Commission of the European Communities (European Coal and Steel Community, European Economic Community, and European Atomic Energy Community). The European Communities already have a common Parliamentary Assembly and a Court of Justice.
