Michel Barnier Aims for Broad Acceptance of the Treaty in Nice

In a speech at the European Parliament, Michel Barnier, European Commissioner with a portfolio for Regional Policy and Reform of European Institutions and also personally responsible for the Intergovernmental Conference, makes some remarks regarding the report of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, which was drafted on its own initiative and concerned reforms in the EU institutions.

During his speech, he mentioned that the goal by the end of the year is to present in Nice a Treaty of broad acceptance that serves the needs and functions of the EU, in view of the accession of new member states.
