Referendum on Scottish Independence from the United Kingdom

The residents of Scotland voted “No” in the referendum on Scottish independence from the United Kingdom. The “No” vote wins with 55.3% voting against independence. With some exceptions, all EU or Commonwealth citizens residing in Scotland aged 16 and over have the right to vote. Less than two years later, on June 23, 2016, the citizens of the United Kingdom voted in favor of leaving the European Union.
