Referendum on the European Constitution in the Netherlands

On June 1, 2005, the Dutch authorities organized a referendum on the draft European Constitution. The majority of voters (61.6%) rejected the Treaty establishing a European Constitution. Turnout reached 64.8%. The Netherlands was the second EU member state to reject the draft EU Constitution after France.
