Resolution of the Six on Agricultural Policy from the Stresa Conference

12/7/1958

The Stresa Conference on the establishment of a Common Agricultural Policy, which took place from July 3 to 12, led to a final Resolution among the representatives of the Six EEC countries. In the adopted resolution, they agreed, among other things, that agriculture should be a key factor in the economy, on the development of intra-Community trade, on protection from external competition without disrupting relations with third countries, and on pursuing productivity improvements that would lead to a pricing policy discouraging overproduction and enhancing competitiveness.
