Romano Prodi Supports Enlargement in a Speech 24 Hours before the Largest Accession of New Members to the Union

One day before the accession of 10 new members to the EU, bringing a total of 75 million new citizens into the Union, in a speech in Trieste, the President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, discusses the enlargement and development of the EU, as well as new prospects emerging for Central Europe in the economic sector. He argues that despite the fact that the economies of the new countries are weaker, their growth potential will ultimately strengthen the EU Economy.
