Signing of the Treaty of Lisbon

The 27 EU member states sign the Treaty of Lisbon, which amends the previous Treaties. The new Treaty aims for a more democratic, efficient and transparent EU and, therefore, capable of addressing global challenges such as climate change, security and sustainable development. All EU countries ratify the Treaty before it enters into force on 1 December 2009.
