Signing of the Yaoundé II Convention

The first Yaoundé Convention, established in 1964 between the European Community and the AASM (African States, Madagascar, and Mauritius), expired on May 31, 1969, and was followed by the Yaoundé II Convention, which was drafted and signed on July 29, 1969, and came into effect on January 1, 1971. This union increased trade relations and established a framework for technical and economic assistance provided under the third European Development Fund (EDF). The fund aimed to construct projects such as ports, roads, and hospitals.
