Special Meeting of the Committee for the Introduction of the Euro and Visit to the Euro-village

For the first time in history, part of the Committee meeting was broadcast live by Europe by Satellite, the European Union’s television news agency. The members of the College spoke in their own languages about the euro and shared their impressions of the imminent arrival of the single currency. After the meeting, the College visited the Euro-village.
The Euro-village exhibition, organized by the Commission, was held in Brussels from 19 to 22 December 2001. From 1999 to 2001, this exhibition traveled to all member states of the eurozone as part of an information campaign about the new single currency.
