Start of Negotiations towards the European Coal and Steel Community

The delegations of the Six (Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy) officially begin negotiations for the creation of a European coal and steel pool based on the Schuman Plan. The discussions took place at the Quai d’Orsay in Paris, where they were welcomed by French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman, who also opened the talks.
