The Association Agreement between Greece and EEC is Activated

The Association Agreement between Greece and the European Economic Community (EEC) enters into force. The signing of the Association Agreement took place on July 9, 1961. This Agreement provided for the possibility of Greece’s future accession to the EEC. Greece is the first European state to proceed with signing such an Agreement. Furthermore, on July 9, 1961, a related agreement on measures to be implemented in order to apply the Association Agreement was also signed. Finally, a financial protocol agreement, which was signed in parallel, was also incorporated into this Agreement.
