Today, the European Commission announced the members of the new Board of Directors of the European Innovation Council. The Board will consist of 20 top innovators – entrepreneurs, investors and venture capitalists, corporate leaders, researchers and academics – who will guide the implementation of the European Innovation Council (EIC), launched on March 18, 2021. The EIC is Europe’s flagship innovation program with a budget of 10 billion euros (2021-2027 period) to support game-changing innovations throughout their lifecycle, from early-stage research to funding and scale-up of startups and small and medium-sized enterprises. The Board members will provide advice on the EIC’s strategy, work program, and thematic portfolios to maximize impact and may also provide advice on broader innovation policy issues.
