28/9/2022

Didier Reynders, European Commissioner for Justice, announces new rules on liability for products and artificial intelligence to protect consumers and promote innovation. These new rules aim to adapt liability rules to the digital age, the circular economy, and the impact of global value chains.
The Commission proposed modernizing existing rules on strict liability of manufacturers for defective products (from smart technology to pharmaceutical products). It also proposed for the first time a targeted harmonization of national liability rules for artificial intelligence, making it easier for victims of AI-related damages to receive compensation.
