The EU Organizes 6 New Humanitarian Aid Flights for Gaza and Provides Assistance to Neighboring Countries

6/12/2023

Six new flights are scheduled in December to provide essential humanitarian aid to people in need in Gaza. Together with these flights, a total of 30 humanitarian aid flights have been scheduled to date to transport supplies weighing over 1,000 tons. These latest flights will carry shelter items, hygiene products, and medical supplies, which are provided by humanitarian partners and donations from Belgium, Ireland, Germany, Greece, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, and Germany.
To ensure a comprehensive response to the crisis, the EU is also strengthening the support it provides to the Egyptian healthcare system, which is called upon to cope with the arrival of people evacuated from Gaza. Through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, the EU is facilitating aid offers to Egypt from Sweden, Spain, Austria, Poland, Italy, and Germany.
The aid, which was proposed by Sweden and Spain and consists of essential medical equipment, was delivered on November 29, with logistical support from Belgium. An Italian ship carrying medical equipment arrived in Egypt on December 3. The remaining aid will be delivered in the coming weeks.
