The EU Provides an Additional 110 Million Euros in Humanitarian Aid to Support Ukrainians Affected by the War

14/11/2023

As Russia’s war against Ukraine continues, the humanitarian situation in the country remains tragic. The onset of winter poses further challenges to already vulnerable communities affected by the war. Therefore, the Commission is granting 110 million euros in humanitarian aid, of which 100 million euros will be allocated to Ukraine and 10 million euros to support Ukrainian refugees and host communities in Moldova. This new funding will help EU humanitarian partners provide essential services such as cash assistance, food, water, shelter, healthcare, psychosocial support, and protection. This latest funding brings the total amount of EU humanitarian aid to address Russia’s war in Ukraine to 843 million euros. In light of last year’s deliberate Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the EU is also prioritizing urgent energy support, sending an additional 84 generators from its rescEU strategic reserves. In total, more than 5,000 generators have been sent to Ukraine through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. Additionally, the EU is coordinating donations from the private sector to provide critical energy equipment to Ukraine.
