The Commission increases its humanitarian funding to Armenia by nearly 1.7 million euros in response to the massive influx of people from Nagorno-Karabakh.
The new funding will aim to further enhance the EU’s existing humanitarian response to displaced people, providing cash assistance, shelter, food security and livelihood support, protection, and healthcare. This funding is in addition to the 10.45 million euros already announced by the Commission to address the crisis, bringing the total humanitarian funding to more than 12 million euros in 2023.
With over 100,000 people having left their homes, often taking minimal possessions, the displaced now need food, shelter, and other basic services as they try to settle in Armenia. Needs are expected to increase as winter approaches, with people in need requiring winter shelter and warm clothing.
