The First Common Agricultural Policy

30/7/1962

Member states are proceeding with the implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) or Common Agricultural Policy as many know it.
Its aim is to support farmers and ensure that food in Europe is safe for consumption. Its management and funding are exercised at the European level from the resources of the EU budget.
Since the 1990s, priorities have been set on reducing surpluses, improving food quality, and promoting sustainability.
