The Parliament Approves the Juncker Commission

MEPs approve the new European Commission after conducting hearings to scrutinize the candidate Commissioners, which lead to the replacement of Slovenian Alenka Bratušek and the reallocation of certain portfolios. Earlier, the Parliament had supported Jean-Claude Juncker’s candidacy for the Commission Presidency. The former Prime Minister of Luxembourg had been proposed by the EPP before the European elections. The new college of 27 Commissioners was approved by the European Parliament with 423 votes in favor, 209 against, and 67 abstentions.
